Event Information

On April 9-16, 2023, for the first time in over two decades, some of the world’s most talented players will gather at Birmingham Rep and Edgbaston Priory Club to compete in a professional squash’s oldest and most honored events: The British Open.

The prestigious PSA World Tour Platinum tournament is set to make its triumphant return to Birmingham after an absence of two decades! Previously held in Hull since 2013, the Utilita Arena will now host ‘The Wimbledon of Squash,’ creating a unique opportunity for squash fans around the globe. Edgbaston Priory Club will host the first two days of the event, after which play will move to The Rep; located in Birmingham’s city center, this awe-inspiring venue boasts an all-glass show court where round three and beyond will take place.

Mohamed ElShorbagy and Sarah-Jane Perry, the top-ranked players from England, will be vying for the titles against defending champions Paul Coll of New Zealand and Hania El Hammamy from Egypt. We are thrilled to announce that a substantial $370,000 prize will be shared among both the male and female athletes participating in this event. This is an unprecedented amount for any competition of its kind.
